Seller: fiddle-guy (203) 100%, Location: STAVANGER, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 273567112423 A very interesting old Hardanger fiddle for sale. Comes with a old handcarved wooden case, and a bow. The Hardanger fiddle has the old original elongated outline - like a true Hardanger fiddle should be; not like modern hardanger fiddles that often use violin shaped patterns. Unfortunately the decorated part of the fingerboard is missing. The wooden case is obviously hand cared, and has lovely tooling marks all over. It also has a lot of wood-worm holes (also the fiddle has some.) The case has recently been sprayed for wood-beetles, just in case. The bow has a rusted seized adjuster screw, and the wood is partly cracked. The fiddle should be considered a complete restauration project, with several cracks, where full disassembly and repair is needed. The back has a crack, now open but has previously been repaired. There is a burn-mark on the upper left corner, and the upper left rib seems to have been replaced. One peg is missing, and the fit of the other ones are not great. Please consider the pictures carefully, so that you know what you are getting yourself into. Please let me know if you have any other questions, and I will answer them to my best ability. Located and can be inspected in Stavanger, Norway. Condition: Old and broken, yet genuine norwegian hardanger fiddle. Needs full restauration by an expert. Cracks, open seams, old repairs, missing parts, burn marks, at least one replaced rib; this one has it all. However, it is also a very rare antique fiddle that could some day be harmonizing again.
